The peak industry association for the animal health sector has made a $10,000 contribution to WIRES as bushfires escalate across New South Wales.
Executive Director Ben Stapley said this donation was provided to WIRES to provide assistance to the health and wellbeing of wildlife affected by the bushfires.
“These conditions are unprecedented and will be devastating to communities across NSW but especially on the mid-north coast. This funding will save lives and provide care for animals in areas devastated by fire,” Mr Stapley said.
“AMA’s member companies are also providing assistance through a variety of channels which underlines the commitment of the animal health industry to our communities and providing animal care at this time.”
If you find wildlife impacted by fires in NSW, please contact the WIRES Rescue Line on 1300 094 737. If is safe to do so, take the animal to the nearest vet.
WIRES advises individuals not to approach injured snakes, flying foxes, adult kangaroos, adult wombats, raptors or goannas as these species must be rescued by trained specialists such as WIRES volunteers. If unsure about your safety call WIRES for rescue assistance.
